Job Classification: Journey Level Substation Apparatus Technician Location: Transmission West (Montrose)
Pay Range: $36.76
1. Must have a satisfactory work record.
2. Must have successfully passed or able to pass the following tests prior to accepting the award:
(a) TABE Reading
(b) TABE Math/Basic Math
(c) Mechanical Concepts Test
3. Must successfully pass a Background Check.
4. Requires successful completion of the apprenticeship training program
OR
Six (6) years of combined education and experience in substation electrical apparatus field. This would consist of:
a) the equivalent of technical training received in an Associate Degree program in Mechanical or Industrial Electronical Technology with advance studies in industrial electrical and electromechanical controls and hydraulic, pneumatic devices, digital systems control logic;
AND
b) four (4) years of practical experience and/or be able to demonstrate knowledge
in maintenance of industrial electrical- electromechanical-hydraulic-pneumatic-electronic control equipment, which must include two years of electric power substation apparatus maintenance experience, involving testing and maintaining power transformers, power circuit breakers, including associated equipment and electrical insulation system testing and repair;
AND
c) must be capable of satisfactorily interpreting electrical schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control logic, and a knowledge of the basic theory of operation of substation relays
AND
d) must successfully complete the "Technical Pre-qualification" test with a 75% or better.
5. Must have and maintain or be able to obtain within 180 days a valid Colorado Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License, with tanker and hazardous material endorsements and no air brake restrictions.
6. Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining First Aid and CPR card within 6 months of hire and have the ability to perform First Aid and CPR.
7. Must have sufficient knowledge and skill in the safe use of electrical and electronic tools.
8 Must be willing to accept overnight travel up to 75% of working time.
9. Must be willing to work extra and irregular hours as the utility needs may require, and willing to work under unusual or special working conditions; storms, extreme temperatures, winds, darkness, etc.
10. Must reside within a 60 minute response time from reporting location.
(Must be able to demonstrate the capability of performing all of the essential functions of the position.)
