System-wide energy efficiency study
In March 2010, Tri-State released the findings of a comprehensive assessment of the opportunities for consumer energy efficiency and demand reduction measures across its four-state system. Study findings support the not-for-profit wholesale power supplier’s ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency programs offered to its 44 member rural electric cooperatives and identify the potential for further program development.
Lighting, motors and appliance efficiency programs were identified as having the most significant potential for energy savings across Tri-State’s system. Near term recommendations include expanding programs, increasing collaboration and marketing, and exploring alternative delivery mechanisms.
Tri-State will use the results of the study to identify additional energy efficiency measures that can provide tangible savings through developing and expanding new programs. In addition, Tri-State will assess alternative ways of delivering energy efficiency and demand response programs to its member cooperatives.
